Hailing from New England, shoegaze duo Procedure Club create the kind of 60′s inspired fuzz pop many bands aspire to, and with debut LP ‘Doomed Forever’, released in June 2010 on Slumberland Records, show a wealth of talent rarely found among the massive influx of US bands that flow into the UK each month.
Tracks such as ‘Artificial Light‘ and ‘Rather‘ are perfectly formed naval gazing classics, and final track ‘Seventh Circle Of Hell‘ stands out, with this final track showing an intriguing chill wave intent, which may become more prevalent in future releases.
Choppy and fuzzed out sounds from guitarist Adam Malec combine superbly with the melancholic and reverb laden musings of Andrea Belair to create a first impression that kinders to bands such as, probably inevitably, My Bloody Valentine, and also more recent incarnations such as Dum Dum Girls.
However, many things on this album stand out for me, with the loud, brash and dischordant ‘Nautical Song‘ showing another side to the band.
A late discovery for me, but a worthwhile listen!
